The latest fitness craze sweeping LA is Mixed Martial Arts, a tough regime involving sledgehammer – slamming, kettlebell training, medicine ball throws and giant rope swinging. Scarlett Johansson credits the trend with transforming her body.
DIONNE Johnson has been hailed as a role model after winning her first ever Thai boxing bout.
The former amateur boxer is Chongi’s first female fighter and she stormed to victory on her debut at an inter-club tournament.
Chongi Kid's Coach Deb, said: “Dionne is a great ambassador for the club. For the women who want to fight she is a real inspiration and for those who just want to get fit and have fun, she’s a motivator and good mate.”
Johnson unleashed a series of fast, sharp jabs and powerful crosses to beat her opponent on points.
The former amateur boxer, who is also a talented hockey player, was the clear winner in rounds two and three.
Chongi fighter Wez Vickerman won his second bout in style at the same event. But clubmate Stanislaw Czekajlo was defeated by a more experienced opponent.
WILL Robinson was our star fighter at our recent Manchester inter-club tournament.
The 24-year-old won his second bout for the club and picked up the ‘best fighter’ prize against competitors from across the region.
Will said: “It’s like getting the man-of-the-match award. We train really hard to win in the ring, but this extra award means it’s not just about strength and speed, but technique as well.”
Shane Mellor, Stanislaw Czekajlo, Grant Howell and Scott Hampton were also in action
